EVENT DESCRIPTIONS & COURSE DIAGRAMS

Begin from a 3-point stance or standing start, behind the center cone. On command, sprint 5 yards toward the right-side cone. Touch the ground immediately beyond the cone, then reverse direction, sprinting 10 yards to the left-side cone. Touch the ground immediately beyond that cone, then sprint 5 yards back, with the center cone as your finish line. Times are measured to the 1/1000 of 1 second (Zybek Sports automatic system), although official results are given in hundredths.
Begin from a 3-point stance or standing start, behind the start cone. The three cone drill has two distinct parts:
- On command, sprint 5 yards to cone 2, touch the ground immediately beyond the cone, then sprint back toward the start cone and touch the ground beyond it.
- Immediately reverse directions, this time sprinting around the outside of cone 2, then to the inside of cone 3, cut around cone 3, sprint around the outside of cone 2 and back to the start cone, your finish line.
STANDING LONG JUMP
From a standing position at the start line, squat and swing your arms backward, then spring forward while swinging your arms in front of your body. Land on both feet. You must stick your landing--if you fall forward or backward, the jump doesn't count (athletes at SpeedRunner combines who fail their first jump attempt will be allowed a second). Jumps are measure to the inch, with distances always rounded down.
After establishing a baseline upper reach by standing beneath the vertical leap unit and adjusting the lower limit to match the upper reach of one hand, athletes jump (squat and jump) as high as they can, moving the highest vertical arm (measuring in 1" increments) that can be reached. Athletes will be allowed a second jump if desired immediately following the first.
